A former sailor's ramblings on anything from family,
country and Church through general geek-ness.
(sorry about the older posts being misformated-technical difficulties)
i just recently learned of the death of a very good friend from high school.
he was born something like 4mos premie, and struggled every day of his life with certain limitations such an early arrival placed on him. (i think he stll holds the record, 46yrs later, for smallest baby in that hospital, a military hospital in okinawa. his mom was native, his dad a usmc).
avid prolifer, he would challenge proborts with the taunt: tell me that i am not alive. that i am not human because i didnt go the whole term.
he was an awesome friend. crippled somewhat, suffered from cerebral palsy and other misfortunes, but the most stubbornest guy i have ever known. not much came easy, and not much stopped him from trying, either. a loyal friend like no other, who got joy in the smallest pleasures, and never, ever complained about his lot.
and he was so much fun to hang with. i miss him. always will. the opposite really. he tried to hide everything. he wanted to be like everybody else.

I'm sorry about your loss.
Sounds like an "our loss" for such a person.
