Perhaps David Duke couldn't get tenure at Princeton, but some of our universities do give tenure to some professors with unsavory beliefs. And the great part? We're not all killing one another over it. Singer advocates legalized infanticide (unsuccessfully, so far, thank God) and Smith criticizes the university for giving him a podium.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;Smith was not at all out of line, and nothing he said was untrue. He got a little worked up toward the end, but no more so than most people who give speeches, and less so than some. (Think, for instance, of the Reverend Wright's sermons and Michael Savage's on-air rants.)</content><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/9877267/3100994862615985587/comments/default/7996089328631521030'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/9877267/3100994862615985587/comments/default/7996089328631521030'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://sailorette.blogspot.com/2008/11/listen-to-this-man.html?showComment=1227613620000#c7996089328631521030' title=''/><author><name>Sleeping Beastly</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/17025472748179116238</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email></author><thr:in-reply-to xmlns:thr='http://purl.org/syndication/thread/1.0' href='http://sailorette.blogspot.com/2008/11/listen-to-this-man.html' ref='tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9877267.post-3100994862615985587' source='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/9877267/posts/default/3100994862615985587' type='text/html'/></entry></feed>
